Two Scottish Coaches selected for new UK Sport “Athlete to Coach” Programme

Last month, UK Sport launched two new coach development programmes, supporting coaches in the high-performance environment. We are pleased to share that Perri McCluskey (Scottish Rowing) and Dale Flockhart (Edinburgh University BC) were selected for the ‘Athlete to Coach’ programme following nominations from British Rowing & Scottish Rowing.

Junior Technical Rowing Camp Returns This August at Strathclyde Park!

Get ready for an unforgettable week on the water as the Junior Technical Camp returns to Strathclyde Park, Motherwell, from August 4th to 8th! Now in its third successful year, this five-day camp is tailored to young single scullers with aspirations of high performance, eager to sharpen their technical skills, gain expert insights, and train alongside motivated peers.

2025 Scottish Rowing Championships Set for Record-Breaking Weekend at Strathclyde Park

This weekend, Strathclyde Park will once again play host to Scotland’s premier rowing event as the 2025 Scottish Rowing Championships return on 7–8 June. With strong entry numbers across all boat classes and a packed programme of racing, the stage is set for one of the most exciting championships in recent years.

Scottish Rowing recruits several new members onto the new-look Performance Advisory Group

Following the recent recruitment of Ian Munro to the Scottish Rowing Board of Directors as the Non-Executive Director for Performance, Scottish Rowing are pleased to welcome the newest members of the Performance Advisory Group (PAG). 

The Performance Advisory Group is a sub-committee of the Scottish Rowing Board and acts to support the delivery of the Scottish Rowing Performance Pathway. The group supports the development of the strategic direction of the Pathway, monitor its progress and effectiveness in working towards its Long Term Outcomes, as well as the management of selection policies and processes for the Scotland Rowing Team & Scottish Rowing Performance Programme.

Medals galore for Scottish Debutants as the GB Rowing Team shine at 2025 European Rowing Championships in Bulgaria

The GB Rowing Team started the new Olympiad with a bang as they travelled to Plovdiv, Bulgaria to race at the 2025 European Rowing Championships, topping the overall medal table with a total of six Gold medals.

Scotland Rowing Team announce the Selection Policy for the 2025 Commonwealth Rowing Association Beach Sprint Championships in Barbados

Following the recent announcement by the Commonwealth Rowing Association that Barbados will be hosting the 2025 Beach Sprint Championships (CRABSC) on Brownes Beach, Bridgetown; Scottish Rowing are pleased to announce the Selection Policy for the Scotland Rowing Team for both athletes & coaches.

Statement from Scottish Rowing

Scottish Rowing acknowledges the outcome from Aberdeen Sheriff Court today involving a coach from a Scottish Rowing affiliated club. Our thoughts are first and foremost with those affected by this case, and we acknowledge the courage of those who came forward to give evidence.

Today’s conviction and disposal of the criminal proceedings follows a longstanding investigation that was initiated by Scottish Rowing following concerns of a safeguarding nature that were raised directly with the governing body in 2020. Following an initial assessment by Scottish Rowing, this individual was placed under a precautionary suspension in April 2021.

Scottish Rowing can confirm that following a sports disciplinary panel hearing, the Board of Scottish Rowing has banned an individual for a minimum period of 10 years. If the individual wishes to return to rowing following this minimum period, specific conditions determined by Scottish Rowing would require to be met in full. This process remains ongoing as the individual has a right to appeal against the decision of the disciplinary panel.

Highlights and Results from the 2025 Scottish Spring Regatta

The Scottish Rowing Spring Regatta returned to Strathclyde Park over Easter weekend, bringing together 680 competitors from 34 clubs across Scotland, England, and Ireland. With over half the crews (50.16%) comprising of women’s entries, the regatta showcased the depth and diversity of talent in UK rowing. The two-day event featured nail-biting finishes, standout performances, and a vibrant atmosphere both on and off the water.

Eight Scottish Universities represent at BUCS Regatta

BUCS Regatta, a key event for anyone in the university rowing scene, was already the largest regatta in Europe, but this year it expanded its schedule beyond the May bank holiday and added a fourth day of racing to its schedule as the 2025 event kicked off at midday on Friday 2nd May.
