Scottish Rowing is looking for its next Development Director – a voluntary, non-executive member of our Board, elected by our member clubs, with responsibility for how our sport grows across Scotland.
The Development Director chairs our Development and Coaching Committee and brings the perspective of clubs and members to the Board table, helping shape how we deliver Strategy 2026 and Beyond – growing the sport, supporting our clubs and people, and making rowing more visible and accessible across Scotland.
You do not need to have served on a board before. We are looking for someone with a genuine understanding of club rowing in Scotland and an interest in how the sport grows - that might come from club leadership, coaching, volunteering, education, community sport or a professional background in a related field. A full induction and support are provided, and the commitment is around a day a month.
We want our Board to reflect the diversity of the rowing community and of the communities we want rowing to reach, and we would particularly like to hear from people in groups currently under-represented in sports governance - including women, disabled people, people from minority ethnic communities and younger people.
The role is elected by our member clubs at the AGM on Sunday 4 October 2026. Candidates must be nominated by a member club - any member club can nominate - and nominations close on Thursday 3 September 2026.

If you are considering standing and would like an informal, confidential conversation first, contact Lee Boucher, our Chief Executive, or Laura Graham, the Chair of the Board via office@scottish-rowing.org.uk
