Scotland Rowing Team Manager Graeme Cunningham Steps Down from Role

Scotland Rowing Team Manager, Graeme Cunningham, has informed the Board of Scottish Rowing of his intention to step down after more than 17 years in the role.

Graeme has overseen the most successful era in the Scotland Rowing Team’s history, leading Scotland to nine team trophies across 15 editions of the Home International Rowing (HIR) Regatta as well as seeing in the introduction of the new HIR Beach Sprints (HIRBS) format and helping to deliver the Guin Batten Beach Sprint trophy at the inaugural event in St Andrews in 2022.

Scottish Rowing Awards 2024

In the Autumn of this year, nominations were opened for the Scottish Rowing Awards for the 2023-24 season. A significant number of high quality nominations were received from across the membership and the judging panel were faced with the impossible task to select 10 winners from an impressive shortlist of individuals, projects, clubs, and communities.
Dame Katherine Grainger Inducted into the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame

During the Scottish Sports Awards on Wednesday 4th December 2024, Dame Katherine Grainger was inducted into the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame.

Margaret MacRitchie

Margaret MacRitchie passed away recently. Margaret (wife of Jim) was a great helper at Scottish Rowing and international events over the years.
Her funeral will be at the Hurlet Crematorium, Glasgow Road, Glasgow, G53 7TH, near Barrhead at 1.00pm on the 16th December and then at the House for an Art Lover, Bellahouston Park. The family would welcome old rowing friends.

Highland Hospice Regatta

Inverness Rowing Club accepted funding from the Highland Council Common Good Fund and in doing so pledged to put something back into the community. As the Hospice is a locally recognised charity, we thought to contact them about possible fundraising opportunities and so the Highland Hospice Regatta was born.
Scottish Masters Take on the World

17 Scottish athletes took the trip to Brandenburg, Germany to race at the 50th World Rowing Masters Regatta on the 11th – 15th of September. The World Masters event takes place annually, attracting athletes from across the world to compete in the 5-day event.
Coach Academy 2024-25

The Scottish Rowing Coach Academy exists to support and develop young coaches and help them reach their potential. Providing them with access to the network and opportunities required to thrive. It aims to provide education, opportunity and community for the next generation of coaches as they develop their own coaching style.

Success for Scottish athletes at the World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals – Genoa 2024

This weekend saw the GB Beach Sprint Team, including a record number of Scottish athletes, take second place in the medal table at the 2024 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals, in Genoa, Italy.
Accompanied by Beach Sprint Pathway Coach, Iain Docwra, six senior Scottish athletes flew out to Italy as part of the GB Rowing Team. This was the first year of the event since the announcement that the Beach Sprints discipline was to be added to the Los Angeles Olympic Games programme in 2028, resulting in strength in depth across all boat classes including many current and former Olympians.

School League

If you are looking for a fun way to get your pupils interacting in physical activity and trying out something new – The Scottish Rowing Schools Indoor League is for you!
The purpose of the league is to encourage participation in indoor rowing, monitoring improvements and progress through the four rounds in the league, and for pupils to experience the thrill of a live competition among peers in the fourth round – a live final which will take place at Fettes College, Edinburgh, on Friday 22nd November.
