It is with great regret that the General Management Committee of the Home International Regatta have decided that HIR 2020 will be cancelled due to public health concerns linked to the coronavirus pandemic.
The next Home International Regatta will take place on 24th July 2021 and will be hosted by Wales.
Uppermost in our minds has been the health and safety of all those who come together to make the regatta happen, the athletes, coaches, organisers, officials and spectators as well as our broader responsibility to society's efforts to tackle this global challenge to our way of life. Although the GMC considered postponing the event until the autumn, this threw up many insurmountable challenges and coupled with the current uncertainty of time scales going forward, meant that this was not an option.
The GMC would like to empathise with the inevitable disappointment of our many supporters, but assure you that we are already planning for HIR 2021 and look forward to launching our new exciting racing format as planned.

It is with regret that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Scottish Rowing Championships scheduled for 5-7 June. We do not propose to reschedule the Championships this year. We have taken this decision in the light of the current restrictions that are in place to stop the spread of Covid-19 and the recent indications from the UK and Scottish Governments that these are likely to continue for some time.

Coronavirus might have stopped us going out rowing and training at our clubs but despite that Scottish rowers are working hard to keep in touch and work out while staying in. In the light of the announcement by the UK Government on 23 March, we would like to remind all clubs of our previous advice issued on 16 March to suspend all club activities . Clubs should comply fully with government guidelines at all times, to protect themselves, their members and the public during this time and in particular we would like to highlight the new guidance issued by the government requiring the public to stay at home at all times apart for in a limited set of circumstances.

The wellbeing, health and safety of all our particpants, staff, coaches, umpires and volunteers is a priority for Scottish Rowing. In light of recent developments surrounding COVID-19 we are monitoring the situation to ensure that we are responding quickly and effectively, and in line with the latest Government guidelines and recommendations. This is a unique and evolving situation for the UK.
Further to our statement on Monday 16 March, the Scottish Rowing Centre (“SRC”) is closed to all users. We have also been informed that although Strathclyde Country Park remains open, the Water Sports Centre and Strathclyde Loch are also closed.
The Scottish Rowing office in the SRC is closed but our staff are now working remotely and can be contacted by email. Contact details can be found HERE. As our small team is spread around Scotland, we are well accustomed and well equipped for this way of working and are looking at ways we can support our members in the coming weeks. We will continue to review and monitor government advice, and provide updates on the impact to our sport.
