Newly formed Eastern Amateur, the first coastal rowing club to sign up to Scottish Rowing’s Project Rio campaign, is aiming to increase awareness for the sport and get more people on the water.

Gordon Day MBE
Gordon John Day MBE, who has died peacefully at 84, was a major figure in the sport of rowing in Scotland, first as an international performer - he represented Scotland at the 1958 Empire Games. He then became a national umpire, international team manager and significant administrator.

George Heriot’s School’s rowing club is going from strength to strength since it appointed Head Coach James Davidson last August.

There are many ways to benefit from Scottish Rowing’s Project Rio campaign which aims to capitalise on rowing interest generated by this summer’s Olympic Games.
Edinburgh’s Heriot-Watt University is planning to use the campaign’s promotional and coaching resources to recruit more students when the term resumes in September.

The London 2012 Olympics had a profound effect on numbers of people taking up rowing.
So large was the flood of interest at Stirling Rowing Club that it only recently worked through the waiting list it accrued four years ago.
