Posted: 11 May 2022 The Munich International Junior Regatta took place on 7-8 May and four Scots were selected as part of a 30-strong group of athletes representing the GB Rowing Team. All three Scottish athletes in the junior women’s sweep group came home with two gold medals from the event. On Saturday, the junior women’s pair featuring Zoe (ASRA) and the junior women’s four which included Maisie (ASRA) and Amy (George Heriot’s School) both won gold medals in exciting finals. All three then combined as part of the four on Sunday to claim their second gold of the weekend. GB Start athlete Josh, representing Strathclyde Park Rowing Club, raced in the junior men’s double scull on Saturday and the quad scull on Sunday achieving a 12th and 9th place respectively in a competitive field. Munich had been the first taste of international competition for the GB Rowing Team Under 19 group since 2019 and these performances bode well as we move towards the final crew formation trials in July which will determine the crews for the World Rowing Under 19 Championships (Varese, 27-31 July) and the Coupe de la Jeunesse (Castrelo de Mino, 5-7 August).

Scottish Rowing today publishes its new strategic plan for the next 3 years to 2025, following an extensive period of review and consultation with members, partners and stakeholders.
This plan comes after a period of significant disruption because of the COVID-19 pandemic, not only within the sport but across society. As we rebuild after this extensive disruption to activities through the COVID-19 lockdowns, there is an increased focus on the importance of physical activity for physical and mental health and wellbeing.
Our ambitious plan sets out how rowing can play its part in helping to get people more active - whether that is through trying rowing for the first time, becoming a club member, being an athlete with aspirations to perform on the world stage or giving their time as a volunteer to help make the sport happen.

Scottish Rowing condemns the actions taken by Russia against Ukraine. Our thoughts are with the members of the Ukrainian rowing community and the Ukrainian people in this time of crisis.
Along with British Rowing, we welcome the statement from World Rowing confirming that it will not allow the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials in any of its international competitions, with immediate effect and until further notice.
