Registration for the first camp of the Student Beginner Programme for 2023/24 is now open to prospective attendees.
The camp will be held in the Scottish Rowing Centre at Strathclyde Park on Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th October, running 09:00-16:00 each day.
The camp is designed for ambitious rowers who have only just taken up the sport at university this academic year ideally meeting the age/height criteria, aiming to help lay the foundations of a great rowing stroke for them to develop through their first season. These athletes will benefit from training as part of a likeminded and talented group, and coaching by Scottish Rowing Performance Coaches alongside coaches from university programmes. There will be further camps through the season which will continue to help develop these promising athletes into independent rowers who can race and train effectively across all disciplines and boat types.
In the first camp we will cover:
Beginners’ Coaches are welcomed (and encouraged) to come along to meet fellow coaches, share good coaching practice, and develop their own knowledge of athlete development.
A hot lunch will be provided on both days of the camp. The athlete contribution to the camp will be £20 to cover lunches and water fees for the weekend.
If any athletes/clubs would like assistance with accommodation, we have a discounted rate at the Holiday Inn Express at Strathclyde Park (please contact cara.odonnell@scottish-rowing.org.uk for more information)
We will endeavor to take the largest group that we can at the camp but may have to restrict attendance if numbers are higher than we can facilitate. The coaching team will communicate with club coaches/captains to aid in any decision on attendance.
Athletes can register for the camp using the link below: https://forms.office.com/e/K4XXWuL101
Registrations will close at midnight on Monday 16th October.
For any further discussion around the camp, or for coaches to confirm their attendance, please get in touch with Tom Young, Scottish Rowing Lead Performance Pathway Coach at tom.young@scottish-rowing.org.uk
