Scottish Rowing has appointed Julie Mullen as its new Safe Sport Case Officer, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to wellbeing and protection across the sport.

Julie brings almost three decades of experience with Police Scotland, including senior roles leading investigations into child and adult abuse.  More recently, she has supported Scottish Governing Bodies of Sport through Children First’s Case Management Support Service, helping to develop robust safeguarding policies and providing live case management support.  With a proven track record of managing some of the most complex and sensitive investigations, Julie is widely respected for her integrity, professionalism and trauma‑informed approach.

Alongside her professional expertise, Julie has a background in rowing, having competed at club and national level and represented Great Britain as a junior.  This experience gives her a strong appreciation of the sport and the communities she will now be supporting.

In her new role, Julie will provide expert advice and case management support to clubs and members, assist with the resolution of wellbeing and protection concerns, and lead or support investigations in line with Scottish Rowing’s wellbeing and protection policies.  She will also work closely with statutory agencies and partners to ensure the best outcomes for children, young people and adults at risk.
