On Friday July 18th the Loch Lomond Rowing Club will be transporting the Queen's Baton across Loch Lomond as part of the relay building up to the Commonwealth Games. The baton will be carried in an 8 by Scottish Rowing Vice President Martin Claxton from Drumkinnon Bay to Balloch Park jetty at 16.30.

On Saturday 22nd February, a significant entry of over 90 crews took part in the Macrae & Dick Inverness Eights and Small Boats Head in blustery weather conditions on the superb rowing waters of the Caledonian Canal in Inverness. Much excellent racing was witnessed over the 4.4 kilometre course in an exciting day of competition which included crews from all over Scotland.

Scottish Rowing is sad to report the death of Harry Wylie, Honorary Vice-President of Scottish Rowing, on June 7th at the age of 103. Harry was one of a group of teachers who set up the Glasgow Schools Rowing Association and went on to be President. A full obituary appeared in the Herald on Wednesday 25th June.

It hasn’t exactly been a fantastic start to the rowing season so far as the rain and wind continues to impact training and racing across Scotland and all over the UK. To cheer us up and inspire more fantastic Scottish achievements in the year ahead we’d like to share this review of Scottish Rowing 2013, a shortened version of which will appear in the GB Almanac. The GB Rowing Team produced some outstanding performances over the weekend at the World Cup II in Aiguebelette, France, including gold medal winning performances from Heather Stanning and Imogen Walsh.

Performance Director Sir David Tanner has overseen some changes, announced today, to the GB Rowing Team line-ups which raced at the European Championships nine days ago.
One of these changes is that Lossiemouth’s Heather Stanning will rekindle her Olympic gold-medal winning partnership with Helen Glover, for next week’s world rowing cup in Aiguebelette, France.

At 10 a.m. on Saturday 7 June 2014 at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, Emirates Arena, Glasgow, Police Scotland attempted to break the World Record for ‘The Largest Rowing class.’
Fit for 14 was introduced to encourage all officers and staff to consider personal fitness or wellbeing goals to have a healthier and more energised workforce. A total of 450 people / groups have set and shared their personal goals.
One of the 450 Fit for 14 aspirations was to seek fitness / health based World Record and the following idea was born….
