Scottish Rowing’s Club Support Manager, Andy Barton, was delighted to be invited to Loch Lomond Rowing Club’s (LLRC) member’s session on Saturday 26th January. The 90 minute session, led by the LLRC committee, had two key objectives. Firstly to provide an opportunity to engage club members on the operating priorities and key objectives for LLRC in the near future, giving an opportunity for members to question and comment. Secondly to allow the LLRC committee to share the collated responses to the recent club membership survey.
Following a productive session, Andy said “it was great to get to see the impact that the LLRC committee are having with their membership and their willingness to be open and collaborative. From my involvement with the club so far I can see that they are a progressive and forward thinking club, who have a clear focus on listening to their members and being sustainable.”
“The specific support that I have provided to LLRC was to create the club membership survey. This was designed to provide all club members with the opportunity to feed into the discussions and decisions regarding the vision and values for the club. I think it’s really positive that the club has reached out to their membership to involve them in these discussions. Whilst the committee, office bearers and coaches do a great job regarding club operations and organisation, the reality is that the culture and environment for the club will be driven by the members. So to see the club embracing that is very encouraging for the present and future of LLRC.”
“The next steps are to work with the LLRC committee to support them in finalizing the vision and values in the coming weeks. Following this I’ll be supporting the committee and the working groups to help translate the vision and values into the working plans that will guide their development.”
