On Saturday 22nd February, a significant entry of over 90 crews took part in the Macrae & Dick Inverness Eights and Small Boats Head in blustery weather conditions on the superb rowing waters of the Caledonian Canal in Inverness. Much excellent racing was witnessed over the 4.4 kilometre course in an exciting day of competition which included crews from all over Scotland.

Crews from the host club Inverness RC were successful in two events winning both the Mixed Veteran Eights and Mens Open Junior 14 double sculls events 

The Mens Open Eights was won by a composite Aberdeen University BC/Robert Gordons University BC/Aberdeen BC crew in an excellent time of 14 minutes 09.6 seconds, whilst the fastest time in Womens Open Eights was recorded by a composite crew from Aberdeen University BC/Robert Gordons University BC/Glasgow University BC/Edinburgh University BC/Strathclyde Park RC/Clydesdale ARC which recorded a fine time of 15 minutes 54.4.

Aberdeen University BC/Robert Gordons University BC/Aberdeen BC won the Mens R1 Eights, St Andrews University BC won the Mens R2 Eights and Glasgow University BC won the Mens Novice Eights. Aberdeen University BC/Robert Gordons University BC/Glasgow University BC/Edinburgh University BC/Strathclyde Park RC/Clydesdale ARC won Womens R1 Eights, Clydesdale ARC won the Womens R2 Eights and Glasgow University BC won the Womens Novice Eights. In Mixed Veteran Eights, Inverness RC outpaced Aberdeen BC to win this event by a significant margin.

In the small boats events, single scullers from Aberdeen BC won the Mens Open and Veteran events, Clyde ARC won the Womens Open event, Stirling RC won the Mens R1 event, Clydesdale ARC won both the Mens Novice, Open Junior 18 and Open Junior 16 events with St Andrew BC winning the Womens Junior 18 event.

Winners in double sculls events were Castle Semple RC in the Mens Veteran event, Strathclyde Park RC in the Womens Open and Womens Veteran events, St Andrew BC in the Mens R2 event, Clydesdale ARC in the Womens R2 event and Loch Lomond RC in the Womens Novice event. Junior double sculls winners were Aberdeen Schools RA in the Open Junior 16 event, Loch Lomond RC in the Womens Junior 16 event, Inverness RC in the Open Junior 14 event and Aberdeen Schools RA in the Womens Junior 14 event.

Coxless pairs events were won by Aberdeen Schools RA in both the Mens Open Junior 18 event and the Womens Junior 18 events.

Highly encouraging performances was recorded by other Inverness crews in eights and sculling events where crews performed well in each division, just missing out on medal positions.
