We are pleased to announce that four individuals have successfully passed their exams and are now officially qualified as Multi-Lane Umpires. The preparation for this assessment is quite demanding, making this achievement even more commendable. As of January 12th, Scotland now boasts a total of 12 Multi-Lane Qualified Umpires. This milestone marks an exciting development, as over a third of our active umpires are now fully equipped with multi-lane qualifications, reflecting the growing expertise and commitment within our officiating community.

Congratulations to our new umpires, we look forward to seeing you in action at our regatta’s this year!

Umpires are the unsung heroes of our events. They provide oversight during races and make real-time decisions that can affect the outcome of the race. While the athletes focus on their performance, it’s the umpires who ensure that everything runs smoothly and according to the rules, helping to preserve the integrity of our sport. Without our umpires there would be no racing.

Becoming an umpire is not only a rewarding way to stay involved, but it also provides a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills and a deep understanding of the rules and strategy behind the races. Training to become an umpire offers valuable experience that can enhance your decision-making and communication skills, all while supporting our rowing community. Whether you're a current or former rower or simply someone passionate about the sport, umpiring is a fulfilling way to contribute to rowing’s continued growth and ensure the continuation of the events we love.
