Inverness Rowing Club, together with the kind support of London Hearts – a charity that help to provide defibrillators in the community – have installed a new public access defibrillator at the Clubhouse.

IRC Defib

The location of the defib will allow it to be utilised by club members, members of the public and visiting clubs in case of cardiac emergency. The Caledonian Canal towpath sees a lot of recreational footfall, and ensuring the defib is accessible to all will allow it to be a true asset to the whole community.

In the initial minutes after a cardiac arrest, use of a defibrillator prior to medical assistance arriving on scene can significantly increase survival rate. The impact of having a public-access defibrillator can be substantial so where possible, please consider obtaining a public-access defibrillator for your Club or local area.
