Updated: 20 March 2020
The wellbeing, health and safety of all our particpants, staff, coaches, umpires and volunteers is a priority for Scottish Rowing. In light of recent developments surrounding COVID-19 we are monitoring the situation to ensure that we are responding quickly and effectively, and in line with the latest Government guidelines and recommendations. This is a unique and evolving situation for the UK.
Further to our statement on Monday 16 March, the Scottish Rowing Centre (“SRC”) is closed to all users. We have also been informed that although Strathclyde Country Park remains open, the Water Sports Centre and Strathclyde Loch are also closed.
The Scottish Rowing office in the SRC is closed but our staff are now working remotely and can be contacted by email. Contact details can be found HERE. As our small team is spread around Scotland, we are well accustomed and well equipped for this way of working and are looking at ways we can support our members in the coming weeks. We will continue to review and monitor government advice, and provide updates on the impact to our sport.
Where possible we would encourage our staff, participants, volunteers and coaches to keep active, while following all government guidelines on safe distance and safe exercise environments. The NHS advice on hand washing and taking steps to avoid coming into contact with the virus remain key.
What is social distancing?
Social distancing measures are steps you can take to reduce the social interaction between people. This will help reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
They are:
Everyone should be trying to follow these measures as far as they can.

Hygiene Measures
Key to efforts to contain COVID-19 is good hygiene practice and we advise everyone to follow the guidance from NHS Scotland:
Further health advice, including what you should do in the event of developing symptoms and self-isolation, is available on the NHS Inform Scotland website.
As always, should you feel unwell, you should not row or train and should seek appropriate medical advice.
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) now advises British people against all non-essential travel worldwide.
