The World Rowing Beach Sprints will be taking place in Shenzhen, China between 25-27 October. FISA is developing this new format of rowing as a potential future Olympic event.
British Rowing has published a selection policy for athletes wishing to be considered for the 7-person team. This document also includes information on selection criteria for coxswains and for those interested in the Boat/Handler coach role.
The race starts with a sprint on the beach followed by rowing round a 250m buoyed slalom course, a turn, a straight row back to the beach and a sprint up the beach to the finish line.
Please note that anyone wishing to be considered for selection is required to enter the British Rowing Beach Sprints which take place at Sandbanks in Dorset on the Sunday 11th August, 2019. The closing for entries is 23rd July. Event information and details of how to enter can be found on the British Rowing website.
