Students representing 9 Scottish universities - Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Glasgow Caledonian, Heriot-Watt, Robert Gordon, St Andrews, Stirling and Strathclyde - enjoyed a successful weekend at the National Watersports Centre, Holme Pierrepont, for the largest ever British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Regatta.
A strong entry from the Scottish contingent contributed to a record entry of 1,071 crews competing for honours over the 3 day May Bank Holiday weekend in Nottingham. A new format comprising time trials for all boat classes led into seeded semi-finals and ensured that all participants competed in a major or minor final to get an overall ranking.
Medals were won by Scottish crews across 8 different boat classes with a large number of Scottish boats making ‘A finals’ over the weekend.
Edinburgh University in 10th position were the highest placed Scottish university in the overall Victor Ludorem table, which was won by the University of London taking the title away from Durham University for the first time in a decade.
