Firhill Youth Project and Community Sports (SCIO) is a charity which aims to positively impact lives in the North Glasgow community through the promotion of a range of accessible, affordable, and sustainable opportunities for local young people (and on occasion the wider community) to participate, coach, or volunteer in rowing, kayaking, canoeing, and other sport, and physical activity related opportunities at the Firhill Basin in North Glasgow.
Firhill Youth Project and Community Sports Hub (SCIO) works in partnership with Scottish Rowing, the governing body for the sport of Rowing in Scotland, and Glasgow Life/Sport Firhill Youth Project and Community Sports Hub (SCIO) also works in direct partnership with Glasgow Kayak Club & Partick Thistle Football Club as well as a range of local partners.
In this exciting role, the successful post holder will have operational responsibility for the co-ordination and delivery of water sports activities and other sporting and educational activities in the Firhill Basin. Additionally, the successful post holder will be responsible for identifying and applying for funding from any relevant source to ensure that long term sustainability of the charity.
The post will include working with children and young people from various communities in North Glasgow and managing the group of volunteer coaches that support the charity in its activities.
We are seeking a dedicated, driven, and motivated individual who will be inspired to work for a charity whose aim is to inspire local young people from the North of Glasgow to take part and sustain their participation in rowing and other water sports and educational activities within our Community Project. Job Description
The Project Co-ordinator & Lead Coach will report to the Firhill Youth Project and Community Sports Hub (SCIO) Board of Trustees and will be responsible community engagement, building local partnerships, and co-ordinating programmes, activities & events in collaboration with key partners. The role will include both on and off the water programme delivery which will be supported by sessional & volunteer coaches.
