Scottish Rowing is the Governing Body for rowing in Scotland. Our vision is a welcoming and thriving rowing community in Scotland.  The Scottish Rowing Centre is a state of the art fitness facility located on the loch at Strathclyde Park, Motherwell.

As a sessional coach, you will be tasked with providing sessions to selected groups (such as Active Schools and Learn to Row groups). Some of these sessions will be specifically rowing based – while others will serve a more general purpose of fun and engagement. As the session delivery is so diverse we welcome applications from a variety of backgrounds and skillsets. Both UKCC Level 2 qualified and unqualified applicants will be considered.

Job Description

The Sessional Coach will report to the Programme Manager and will be responsible for leading and/or assisting coached sessions.

The groups you will work with will be variable and sessions can be indoor or outdoor depending on qualifications and experience.

Formal coaching qualifications are not mandatory for indoor sessions, however a first aid qualification and Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport certification are desirable.  Successful applicants will be supported to attain relevant first aid and safeguarding qualifications if necessary.

Desirable qualifications would include water sport/multi-sport qualifications or a level 2 gym instructor qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

Sessional Coaches are tasked with planning and delivering sessions to a range of groups of various age and ability levels. Responsibilities include working with a team to deliver/support sessions to larger groups and supporting Scottish Rowing in event delivery. You may also be required to assist with any other reasonable task that may be required by Scottish Rowing.

Successful candidates will deliver sessions according to Scottish Rowing code of conduct and coaching standards and being mindful to maintain high levels of health and safety throughout all activities.
