Great Britain won five medals (three gold, one silver, one bronze) and topped the medal table at the FISU World University Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany last week, with University of St Andrews’ Sophia Issberner part of the Women’s Eight that won gold on Sunday.

Scotland’s Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport, Maree Todd MSP, recently visited Inverness Rowing Club to see first-hand the remarkable transformation of one of Scotland’s most ambitious community sports clubs.
The visit marked a celebration of the club’s extraordinary growth over the past five years - from just 65 members and no mains electricity in 2019, to a thriving hub of over 125 members, modern facilities, a growing fleet of boats, and a vibrant outreach programme serving young people and underrepresented groups across the Highlands.

British Rowing is working in partnership with organisations including UK Sport, Sport England, sportscotland and Scottish Rowing, as well as key university and club partners from across the UK, to help establish the GB Olympic Beach Sprint programme for success in LA and beyond.

Last month, UK Sport launched two new coach development programmes, supporting coaches in the high-performance environment. We are pleased to share that Perri McCluskey (Scottish Rowing) and Dale Flockhart (Edinburgh University BC) were selected for the ‘Athlete to Coach’ programme following nominations from British Rowing & Scottish Rowing.

Following the recent recruitment of Ian Munro to the Scottish Rowing Board of Directors as the Non-Executive Director for Performance, Scottish Rowing are pleased to welcome the newest members of the Performance Advisory Group (PAG).
The Performance Advisory Group is a sub-committee of the Scottish Rowing Board and acts to support the delivery of the Scottish Rowing Performance Pathway. The group supports the development of the strategic direction of the Pathway, monitor its progress and effectiveness in working towards its Long Term Outcomes, as well as the management of selection policies and processes for the Scotland Rowing Team & Scottish Rowing Performance Programme.

The GB Rowing Team started the new Olympiad with a bang as they travelled to Plovdiv, Bulgaria to race at the 2025 European Rowing Championships, topping the overall medal table with a total of six Gold medals.
