Scottish Rowing Statement | Scottish Government Budget

Scottish Rowing welcomes the Scottish Government’s decision this week to increase funding for sport in the year ahead, with a clear focus on supporting the work of governing bodies.

Alongside many other sports, Scottish Rowing has been part of the Sports Governing Bodies CEO/COO Forum over the past year, working collectively through the Running on Empty campaign to highlight the real impact of years of standstill funding. The campaign set out, clearly and constructively, how rising costs and flat budgets have placed increasing strain on organisations across the sector.

Scottish Argonauts Project 2026

The Scottish Argonauts Project offers a unique opportunity for Scottish junior rowers to train and compete in eights at national-level events, specifically the Women’s Eights Head of the River Race(14 March 2026) and the Head of the River Race (28 March 2026) on the Tideway. This long-standing initiative is a key component of the Junior Performance Pathway.

Scottish Rowing Office Christmas Closure Notice

The Scottish Rowing team will take an extended break over the holiday period, and our office will be closed from Friday 19 December, reopening on Monday 5 January. During this time, phones and mailboxes will not be monitored.

Two Camps, One Goal: Building Strength, Skill and Confidence at Largs

The whirring of the ergometer flywheels, the thuds of barbells in the weights room, and the scratch of pens filled the halls of the sportscotland National Sport Training Centre in Largs last weekend as 52 junior athletes took part in not one, but two simultaneous camps.

Tropical Tide Turns Tartan – Scottish Success on the Beaches of Barbados

The Scotland Rowing Team saw great success at the CRA Beach Sprint Championships. The team was comprised of 7 athletes, four senior athletes, and three under 21 athletes, who took to the Caribbean waters to test themselves against the best from the Commonwealth nations.

Junior Indoor League and Championships 2025

On Friday 21st November, junior participants from 15 different schools, rowing clubs, and youth groups gathered at Fettes College in Edinburgh for the first in-person Scottish Rowing Junior Indoor Championship under its new name.

Scottish Sport is "Running on Empty"

Despite a pledge in 2021 to double annual funding for sport to £100m, that commitment remains unmet with less than six months of this Parliament left.
