Good coaches are always looking to expand their knowledge and keep up to date with current thinking.
There are various generic and rowing specific development opportunities available to coaches. Scottish Rowing runs periodic workshops for coaches on a variety of topics. Details of upcoming workshops will be posted on this page when available.
Sportscotland in conjunction with Sportscoach UK run a series of workshops and seminars. Details of these are available from: sportscotland
Sportscoach UK also has a good website with various tools and resources for coaches. See Sportscoach UK
A number of local authorities also offer workshops and courses for coaches. Some Local Authorities will also provide funding for coaching courses – see the relevant website below.
Safeguarding & Protecting Children Course
Scottish Rowing is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children in its care. It recognises the responsibility to promote safe practice and to protect children from harm, abuse and exploitation.
We are therefore hosting a free Safeguarding and Protecting Children course on Tuesday 11th July from 6pm-9pm. This course is for any coaches or committee members from any Scottish Rowing affiliated club who would like to attend or who needs an up-date. This is also a pre-requisite of the Level 2 coaching qualification, so would be useful for anyone hoping to gain this qualification in the next year or two.
Attending a Safeguarding & Protecting Children course every 3 years is good practice for all to ensure you have a current awareness of this area. The course will be held:
on Tuesday 11th July 2017
at the Scottish Rowing Centre
and is FREE to attend.
