Colin Simpson 1975-2023

Posted: 13 July 2023

Scottish Rowing is saddened to hear of recent death of Colin Simpson.

Colin was introduced to rowing at Clydesdale ARC by his father Gordon, initially as a cox and then as a rower.

He coached at Strathclyde Park RC and most recently at Heriot Watt University BC where he also acted as a boatman.  Colin also assisted with some of the first para rowers to be based at the Scottish Rowing Centre.

Colin had issues with his sight throughout most of his adult life but never let it affect his enjoyment of the sport.

A news story featuring Colin was published in 2019.

Our thoughts and sympathies are with his family and friends at this sad time.

Funeral details can be found below:

Colin's funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 1st at 12:00 at the South Lanarkshire Crematorium.

The family has asked for only bright colour's to be worn and NO BLACK!
