The GB Rowing Team Trials for Senior and Under 23 athletes took place at Caversham on Saturday, with the time trial / semi-final / final format condensed into one day as a result of the poor weather forecast for Sunday.

18 Scots took to the start line which saw Scotland represented in the 'A final' of each discipline bar one, men's heavyweight single, with Heather Stanning (and Helen Glover) winning the women's pair ahead of Polly Swann (and Jess Eddie). Imogen Walsh was pushed into second in the final of the lightweight women's single by London 2012 Champion Kat Copeland, whilst Alan Sinclair (with Nathaniel Reilly-O'Donnell) maintained his 3rd place finish from 2013 in the men's pair and Sam Scrimgeour went one place better than last year, 5th in the men's lightweight single scull. Victoria Meyer-Laker enjoyed a 4th place finish in the women's single scull, up two places on 2013.

There were a number of impressive performances from our Under 23 and development athletes which resulted in 5 of the 10 Scottish based athletes (Claire McKeown, Lewis McCue, Emma McDonald, Natalie Irvine and Georgina Grandfield) being invited to stay on for seat racing this week. For the other younger athletes the experience will have served them well for future years.
