Dumfries Schools Rowing Association athlete Calum Michael has claimed four medals, including two golds rowing for GB, at the 2013 Coupe de la Jeunesse in Lucerne, Switzerland.  The annual "Coupe" event is regarded as one of Europe's most prestigious U18 international regattas and this year took place on the historic Rotsee course.

Racing in both the 4+ and 8+, Calum along with his crew mates, produced a strong performance to defeat a quality Spanish crew to take the win but were denied a golden double after being pushed into 2nd place by Italy in the 8+ .

The unique format of the regatta means that crews race again the next day.  Unfortunately, the Spanish crew reversed the result  of Saturday's race in the 4+ but the three day regatta ended on a high for Calum as the GB 8+ overhauled the Italian crew to claim gold.

Overall, the GB Rowing Team won eight gold, seven silver and five bronze medals, which gave them the overall team and girls’ trophies and runners-up slot in the boys’ event.
